Gyutto: Panasonic’s Newest E-Bike Has 2 Child Seats

First a sporty model, now this family-friendly one: Panasonic announced [JP, PDF] the Gyutto, an electric bike that can carry two children (one in the front, another in the back), and which actually makes a lot of sense if you think about it. The Gyutto will come with 22- (front) and 26-inch (back) wheels.

The Gyutto weighs 32.3kg and is powered by a 25.2V-8Ah lithium-ion battery. Panasonic says the assisted travel range reaches 24/27/36km in the power/automatic/eco modes.

The e-bike, which has been certified by the Japanese government as safe for the transportation of children, will go on sale in Japan on May 23 (price: $1,600). A second child seat for the rear part can be purchased separately for $185.
